DTCB serves over 300 high school students annually and provides a platform to explore a career in dance through a college fair featuring over 40 college dance programs across the nation plus an opportunity to meet one-on-one with Dance Chairs, Faculty and alumni. Students & parents from across the country are invited to participate free of charge at DTCB. Entrance for the day includes attendance at panel discussions with advice pertaining to auditions, financial aid and application processes as well as a chance to witness dance programs in action through performance showcases.  Lastly, senior high school students are offered the opportunity to audition for these college programs on the same day! This year, we have the pleasure to work with the distinguished Jody Gottfried ArnholdFounder of 92Y Dance Education Laboratory;  Jennifer Stahl, Editor-in-chief Dance MagazineLauren Gordon, Career Transitions for Dancers Counselor for the New York office and Seán Curran, Renowned American Dancer and Choreographer; among many more.

Dancewave is so proud to be able to give this free opportunity to students belonging to all socio-economic backgrounds who want to expand and transition their careers into dance through higher education. Providing a much needed service to the dance industry and to high school students, Dancing Through College and Beyond offers talented young dancers the opportunity to connect, one on one, with renowned faculty and choreographers from colleges across the country, forming personal connections between the current generation of leading dance professionals and the next. This event helps students fully explore college dance opportunities and assists them in navigating the college admissions process.

The DTCB day includes discussion panels with distinguished college department chairs and education specialists, dance classes taught by notable college dance faculty, and a college fair where students network with representatives from over 40 college dance departments from all over the United States. Students learn about the wide range of programs offered by various dance departments, and how these programs provide career opportunities that range from professional dancer to dance educator to dance therapist and more. Panel discussions provide practical tips for submitting applications, requesting financial aid, and auditioning.

Two unique aspects of the program this year include a performance by several participating colleges and a LIVE COLLEGE AUDITION for some colleges participating in the event. This is a very special and convenient opportunity for students who cannot travel to schools for college admittance auditions.
